“When I first came across these yurts, I thought it would be a very innovative form for our spa at Discovery Village, Kabini. Once the spa was up and running, I felt I could use a yurt for myself. That’s how I ended up with two connected yurts that are now the family’s weekend home at Kanakapura. The sun comes in through the transparent dome, wakes me up to the sound of the stream going by outside, add a cup of tea and you have an ideal morning.”

“At the bottom end of Machaan, is a wide expanse of wetlands, my favourite spot. I had always wanted to create a unique experience just above — where guests could watch the birds come home, in the evenings. For birders and for lay folks alike, this is a real encounter with nature and I wanted it to go beyond concrete, be something novel and special. Yurts from The Out Factory were exactly what I was dreaming since the time we bought this land.”

“As an architect, I have a soft corner for the innovative. And when a friend shared some images from The Out Factory, I was clear that I needed a yurt for my farm. When I have guests over, everyone is curious and wants to know more about the yurt. And I end up telling them about the yurt from an architect’s perspective — probably a longer story than they wish to hear.”
